200+ Kingdom and Empire Name Ideas for Fantasy Worlds
A realm name has one job: to make a reader believe the country existed for centuries before page one. The lists below give you more than two hundred ready-to-use names for kingdoms, empires, duchies, principalities, and dominions, organized into the six realm styles our generator builds from. Every name is original invention; none is lifted from an existing franchise, so all of them are safe to build a novel, campaign, or game world on. Scattered lore hooks show how little it takes to turn a name into a history. If our guide to realm titles is the grammar, this page is the vocabulary.

Using these lists well
Treat each style section as one linguistic region of your map, not a grab bag: three neighboring realms pulled from the same list will sound like neighbors, which is most of what believability costs. Feel free to retitle anything here, since the root does the real work; the Kingdom of Balemourn demotes cleanly to a duchy or swells into an empire as your history requires, a flexibility our realm titles guide explains in detail. And when you need more than a list can hold, the generator on our front page builds names in all six styles, with the government selector keeping every title word honest, in unlimited batches.
