About the Kingdom Name Generator

The Kingdom Name Generator is a free tool that names whole realms: fantasy kingdoms, empires, duchies, principalities, and dominions. Pick a realm style, choose the government whose title word should appear in the name, and generate as many batches as you like, with an optional royal motto on some results. There is no account, no daily limit, and no premium tier, and everything the tool produces is yours to use in fantasy novels, tabletop campaigns, video game worlds, and worldbuilding projects, personal or commercial.

Built at map-label scale, on purpose

This site deliberately works at the largest scale of a fantasy map. Its corpus is built from original dynastic roots, landscape epithets, and virtue and dread words, assembled through the naming patterns real countries actually follow: named for a founding house, named for the land, or named for an aspiration. The government selector keeps the political vocabulary honest, so a duchy comes out a duchy and an empire comes out an empire, a distinction our guide to realm titles unpacks in full. Every root is invented; the generator contains no realm names from existing franchises, so what it gives you is safe to build on.

Our sibling site, the City Name Generator, works at the opposite scale: the capitals, ports, market towns, and villages inside the borders this tool names. The two split the map cleanly. Name your realm here first, then use the city generator to fill it with settlements that sound like they belong to it.

Privacy

The generator runs entirely in your browser. Your selections and the names it produces never leave your device, nothing you generate is stored on a server, and the tool keeps working even if your connection drops after the page loads. The full details are on the privacy policy page.
